A Path For Change
A Path for Change was founded in 2023 by Roman C.C. Montague.
Mr. Montague has been facilitating Batterer's Treatment Programs (BTP) and anger management classes for over 10 years and has taught in Placer, Sacramento, Yuba and Sutter counties.
As a program, we offer men's 52-week BTP and anger management classes that are court, parole or CPS referred. In addition to this, we also accept self-enrollments.
This program believes that no amount of worldly success makes up for failure in the home, and it is our goal to assist not only the individual, but the family unit, and the community as a whole.
We are currently an approved provider for Sacramento County.
It's easy to sign up for class! Just attend one of our in-person classes and we'll get you squared away with all necessary paperwork and assessments.
Things to bring :
$40.00 initial enrollment fee (this will also count towards your first class)
Proof of income (paystub, bank statement, EDD, SSI/SSDI, spousal support, etc.)
Copy of your court paperwork ordering your attendance to BTP classes.
If referred by CPS, please bring your CPS referral paperwork.
A good attitude and willingness to attend.

Q: How much will I pay per class?
A: Fees are determined by a court approved sliding scale, based on total household income. Fees range from a minimum of $30.00 per class to a maximum of $45.00.
Q: How can I pay for class?
A: We currently accept cash, Venmo, Zelle, CashApp, Apple Pay and PayPal. We do not accept personal checks or credit cards.
Q: What can I expect in class?
A: Classes are held in an open group format and new members may join the class upon their enrollment. Each class session is to be 2 hours in length for one session a week. The overall program is 52 weeks unless the client is granted by the court to attend less.
There is a philosophy of mutual respect between all members of the group as we recognize that all clients come in with different personal histories, personalities, and life situations. This program is geared towards helping all “walks of life” and spectrums of people.
Q: What happens If I can't make it to a class?
A: Per California law, a client is allowed to have three missed classes during their participation in their 52-week program. After their fourth miss, the client will be terminated from the program and will need to re-referred back by probation and/or the courts.
Q: I'm transferring from another BTP program. Will I still get credit for those classes?
A: Yes. If the program you're transferring from is court approved, then you will receive credit for those classes. Please bring your transfer paperwork from the previous program and we will get your enrolled.
Q: My case is not from Sacramento County, can I still attend and get credit?
A: If your county's court or probation office approves an out-of-county transfer, than you may attend and still get credit; however, you have to get formal approval from them prior to attending with us.
